Field guide / New player onboarding

Found Blackout.
Now get inside.

From the Discord to your first night — a guided path into the world, split by edition so you only ever read the steps you need.

Stage 01 — Before you play

Start outside
the game.

Two things happen before Minecraft is even involved. Do these first and everything after them gets easier.

Every Blackout player starts here. A quick Discord onboarding shapes the world around you — how you play, what you are into, where you fit — so by the time you load in, Blackout already feels like yours.

The essentials

Know three things before you start.

Blackout is one persistent survival world, open to Java + Bedrock, running Minecraft 26.2. The address is play.blackoutsmp.com — Bedrock players also need port 25942. That is everything you need to memorise; the rest of this guide walks you through it.

Next: choose your edition

Stage 02 — Choose your edition

One world.
Two doors.

Blackout runs both editions on Minecraft 26.2. Pick the one you will actually play on — the rest of this guide reshapes itself around your choice, so you never read instructions meant for the other edition.

Stage 03 — Setup / Your edition

Your path
appears here.

Choose Java or Bedrock above — this stage reshapes itself to your edition, with only the steps you actually need.

Stage 04 — You are in / First moves

Spawn is behind you.
The map is ahead.

The guide ends where the world begins. A few pointers for the first session — everything deeper lives on its own page.

Stuck at any point? The FAQ covers common questions, and the Discord is the fastest place to get an answer from staff and players.

Playing Java or Bedrock? Pick your edition below — these details are all Minecraft asks for.

Java EditionPC / Mac / Linux
play.blackoutsmp.com

No port needed on Java — the address does it all.

Bedrock EditionWindows / Mobile / Console

Bedrock needs both the address and the port, or the connection goes nowhere.
